Beazley Expands Healthcare Team with Appointment of Tom McNally

Beazley Group (BEZ.L) today announced the addition of Tom McNally to its miscellaneous medical healthcare team, expanding the insurance company’s capabilities in the area of medical products liability coverage.

The addition of Mr McNally, who joins Beazley from Markel Corporation, will broaden Beazley’s healthcare professional liability underwriting capabilities in the United States. With underwriters in London and Chicago, Beazley’s substantial and growing healthcare practice currently serves three of the top 10 “honor roll” hospitals listed by US News & World Report, as well as numerous long term care facilities, clinical research organizations, tissue and blood banks, clinical laboratories, medical staffing agencies and other healthcare-related organizations.

Previously, Mr McNally worked for nine years with Markel Corporation as an allied healthcare and products liability specialist where he managed the southeast region for Markel subsidiary Markel Shand, Inc. (formerly Shand Morahan & Company, Inc.) and served as a product manager of the company’s products liability line. Prior to Markel, Mr McNally worked in retail brokerage for Johnson & Higgins and Marsh & McLennan from 1994 to 1999. Mr McNally is a graduate of the College of the Holy Cross.

Mr McNally will work alongside Evan Smith, who heads Beazley’s miscellaneous medical underwriting team in Chicago. He will underwrite both miscellaneous medical risks (sometimes categorized as ‘allied healthcare’ risks) as well as targeting certain non invasive medical products liability business that fits within Beazley’s underwriting appetite.
