Beazley Establishes Underwriting presence in Oslo

Hilde Thon appointed as Upstream Energy underwriter

Beazley Group announced today that, subject to regulatory approval, it intends to open a new office in Oslo to service energy business for the Beazley syndicates at Lloyd’s.  Hilde Thon, previously at brokers Newman, Martin & Buchan, has been appointed Upstream Energy Underwriter at the new office. 

Paul Dawson, head of Beazley’s energy team in London, said: “Scandinavian companies are market leaders both in oil and gas production and in the provision of drilling and other support services. We have a longstanding commitment to business from this region.  By having a presence on the ground, we aim to build even closer relationships and strengthen our position in respect of business that is traditionally placed into the regional market.”

“By having underwriting in both Oslo and London we will be able to supplement our current business production channels and bring the specialist knowledge and capacity for which Beazley is known more directly to the Scandinavian market.”

Hilde Thon said “I am delighted to be joining Beazley to establish the new Oslo operation. We see this as complementary to the London portfolio and a significant addition in our efforts to develop a regional account within Norway, Sweden and Denmark.”
