New global charity partnership with World Central Kitchen

March 16, 2023

Doing the right thing is in our DNA and we strive to help support not only our local communities, but also communities around the world. We recognise the importance of engaging with one global charity that we can all rally behind to support and get involved with, no matter where we are located.

Late last year, World Central Kitchen (WCK) was chosen by our Beazley colleagues to be our new global charity partner. WCK is an organisation who are first to the frontlines, providing meals in response to humanitarian, climate and community crisis.

Here’s how they lend their helping hand, according to their website…

“Applying our model of quick action, leveraging local resources, and adapting in real time, WCK has served hundreds of millions of nourishing meals around the world. When disaster strikes, WCK’s Relief Team mobilizes with the urgency of now to start cooking and serving meals to people in need efficiently and with dignity. By partnering with organizations on the ground and activating a network of local restaurants, food trucks, or emergency kitchens, WCK serves comforting meals to survivors of disasters quickly and effectively. To support regional economies, WCK prioritizes purchasing local ingredients to cook with or distribute directly to families in need. We know that good food provides not only nourishment, but also comfort and hope, especially in times of crisis.”

WCK has been hard at work to end climate-triggered hunger. According to their 2022 annual report, they have served more than 185 million meals in Ukraine and 10 million meals in emergencies in more than 30 other countries.

Additionally, they’ve had recent activations in response to the following crises:

  • Feb 2023 - Wildfires in Chile
  • Feb 2023 - Earthquakes in Turkey & Syria
  • Jan 2023 - Atmospheric flooding in California
  • Jan 2023 - Tornado in Selma, Alabama
  • Dec 2022 - Blizzard in Buffalo, NY
  • Dec 2022 - Earthquake in northern California
  • Sept 2022 - Hurricane Ian in Florida
  • Feb 2022 - Humanitarian crisis due to invasion of Ukraine

We’re looking forward to working with WCK, and over the course of our partnership there will be many ways for you to get involved.
