We aim to recruit, retain and develop people with diverse backgrounds and experiences to thrive at all levels of our business, in a truly inclusive environment.
We want our employees to reflect the diverse range of backgrounds and experiences that make up the customers and communities that we serve. From the recruitment process onwards, everyone that works for us, wherever they are from or whatever point in their career they are at, has the opportunity and support to flourish in our company.
We know that measuring our progress via a set of challenging targets and regularly analysing and checking our employee demographics is key to maintaining the diversity of thought that is central to our overall strategy and ensuring there are no hidden barriers to career progression for individuals who are part of underrepresented groups. Only with an active and goal oriented focus can we continue to ensure the Beazley team is as genuinely diverse and talented as our growth ambitions demand.
We have 5 networks run for our employees, by our employees. Each network is open to everyone - those who consider themselves members of that particular group as well as their allies and has a combination of executive and senior sponsors. Our networks play an important role in ensuring that colleagues right across the company and in all different territories, functions and levels of responsibility feel they have clear channels through which their voice can be hear and they can get involved in tackling some of the complex issues that will help us to create a more equal and inclusive culture.
The past year saw many seismic events, as the world was gripped and grappled with the challenges of the pandemic. Social justice issues rose to the fore in 2020 amid heightened tensions aggravated by tragedies including the killings in the US of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor, which sparked protests and attracted mainstream attention to issues faced by people of colour globally.
Specialist insurer Beazley is committed to becoming a more diverse organisation that attracts and enables individuals from all backgrounds to build meaningful careers at all levels in a positive, inclusive environment.
We believe a balanced and diverse workforce is good for business –good for our people, our customers and for profitability. Not only do we have a vision to make Beazley feel truly inclusive, with a great diversity of talent across all levels of our business, we also want to play our part in building a more balanced and fair insurance sector. All elements of diversity are important to us and we’re the first to recognise that there is always more that we can do.
