Beazley promotion boosts international financial lines team in Asia Pacific

Abdullah adds bench strength to Beazley’s specialty lines team

Specialist insurer Beazley has strengthened its international financial lines (IFL) team in Asia Pacific with the promotion of Razif Abdullah to assistant underwriter.

Razif’s responsibilities include underwriting across a range of IFL products including directors & officers and professional indemnity insurance, and engaging brokers in Singapore through Beazley’s etrading platform, myBeazley, launched in Asia Pacific earlier this year.

Complementing his underwriting and insurance knowledge, Razif’s language capabilities in Bahasa Melayu and Bahasa Indonesia will support Beazley in providing localised services to reinsurance intermediaries in Malaysia and Indonesia. This appointment follows the recent authorisation of Beazley Labuan Limited, a new service company that extends Beazley’s distribution capabilities in the Malaysian market.

Razif joined Beazley after university as a general underwriting assistant in 2017 and in 2019 he also became team leader for a growing team of underwriting assistants based in Beazley’s Singapore hub.

Nicholas Tey, Beazley’s regional manager, international financial lines, said: “We’re very pleased to promote Razif to this new role. His appointment reaffirms our commitment to growing our financial lines team to serve intermediaries and build a wider footprint across Asia Pacific. Razif will be a great asset to our team as we support brokers using our online trading platform myBeazley.”

Lucien Mounier, Beazley’s head of Asia Pacific, added: “Since joining our team, Razif has established himself as an astute team member who is quick to identify the needs of our clients and brokers. He is swiftly developing his underwriting knowledge and his considerable language skills are another great asset as we continue steady growth across Asia Pacific.”
