Our client base is broadly diversified by type, by size and by geography. We are leaders in many of the markets in which we operate, insuring in 2009:

• A third of the Am Law 200 list of the top law firms in the United States
• More than half of the top 50 US design firms as ranked by Engineering News-Record
• More than a third of the world’s top 200 oil and gas companies
• Two thirds of the top 25 global software and software services companies as ranked by Software Magazine
• Half of the UK’s jewellers’ block business
• Four of the top 10 ‘Honor Roll’ US hospitals as listed by US News and World Report (2009 listing) and three of the top ten pediatric hospitals. We also insure a fifth of Modern Healthcare's Top 100 Hospitals for 2009 

We began to establish a local presence in the US market in 2004 and since then have also built a strong business among smaller firms that would not traditionally have insured at Lloyd’s.  In 2009, Beazley’s local US underwriters wrote $370.7 million in gross premiums, principally for smaller clients.
