Claims
Claims service is the product that insurers sell. Like all
successful companies, we want our product to delight our customers
and encourage them to continue to do business with us. We have
accordingly invested heavily in claims service across our lines of
business.
Our clients have different views of what
constitutes excellent service, depending on the type of insurance
they have purchased. For many, speed of settlement is
paramount and, wherever possible, we seek to streamline our
processes to achieve this. For other clients, particularly
those holding professional and management liability policies
underwritten by Beazley, we aim to provide an effective response to
third party lawsuits. These insureds want to know that they
have a knowledgeable and competent insurer “in their corner” to
support and coordinate their defense strategy.
How to notify a claim
Most of our insurance and reinsurance is
underwritten in the Lloyd’s market on a subscription
basis. Beazley frequently leads these policies but other
syndicates at Lloyd’s also subscribe.
When a claim arises under a Lloyd’s policy,
the broker plays a key role in notifying the market. Your
policy will contain contact details for your broker, who should be
notified as early as possible in the event of a claim or of
circumstances likely to lead to a claim.
Our ability to provide prompt and supportive
claims service will commonly depend on how early a claim is
notified and how much information is provided in relation to the
claim. Your broker will provide guidance on the types of
information that will be helpful in resolving your claim.
In many cases, particularly for smaller risks,
we underwrite policies 100%, either at Lloyd’s or backed by our A
rated US insurance company, Beazley Insurance Company, Inc. Here
too your policy will provide relevant claims notification
details.
